Hello! We are DIYfferent. 🦄
In 2021 we achieved a BIG goal by moving to the warm south!! We bought a diamond in the rough property in a beautiful area, and it came with a lively pond which attracts all kinds of amazing creatures. We've been using our DIY skills to transform the old house and land into an amazing place.
We also purchased a cool retro 1984 singlewide mobile home that we have been restoring as well.

Looking good!
The wire is going low fast because you pulled more than you need and you cutting off at at least 6in in waste per installment.
We used T1 -11 on our first house………never again……….next house we used vinyl board and batten…….no staining or painting, no rot ! Well worth the money……..I just wash it down………
We are just along for the ride. You do whatever your heart desires. For me, it doesn't have to go in any certain order. But it is looking good. Bye, Eevee, and to Mavericks delayed good bye. He must have been busy. LOL
How do you keep roaches out of your living space in Florida? I live in Washington State, and don't really have that problem.
Having lived in Southern GA, I have to say that palmetto bug got me. 😦 Fantastic progress, one step (or two sheets) at a time, it's how things get done🎉 👋😊
Did y'all NOT see that very big roach when you edited. Man you might want to spray now.
We used to use Kilz, now my son uses Bullseye on his jobs…..great product! Your mobile home is actually brand spanking new now…great job!
Doug in shorts!! Now you're a Floridian 😎
Yup - finally converted!
Does the state require a licensed electrician to approve wiring home dwellings? Just curious. You are doing a great job. Love to see your love and care that goes into your work. Not to mention deep thought and planning.
If you haven't already, you may want to buy your HVAC system before 2025. New regulations will be in effect, causing HVAC systems to increase 25% or more.
YES - dealing with that currently, glad someone pointed it out to me. New type of freon too, old kind will be in limited supply. New freon, 2025, sounds scary, someone commented it is flammable. I'm in Florida, AC is a necessity.
Huge Palmetto running around. Could have put a saddle on it for the kids to ride lol. 😅😂😅
😂 I would have screamed and ran out the door! 🤣🤣
Siding looks great l love your balcony.
Nice tip in the electrical wire. I'm sure whatever you have leftover you can use on your 8 car garage,,, LOL
Wow. That siding just amazingly finishes it up so beautifully
I'm with you on using 14/2 for the bedrooms. Really no need for the extra expense of 12/2 for bedrooms, however, I thought I heard you say you were going to use a mini split system. It may be a challange to get the air in the bedrooms if the door is closed for privacy . My brother heated with a wood stove and bought through-the-wall electric vents, which was mainly a through-the-wall kitchen or bath vent with a decorative cover on both sides that was super quiet and it's purpose was to move heated or cooled air from one room to the other. He placed it high on the wall where the heat gathered to move the heated air into the bedrooms. Worked out well. In your case since moving cool air is more of a concern because of where you live, placing it lower down toward where the cooler air is would be better. You may want to ponder on this and if it's a possibility, go ahead and run a wire in the wall before you put up your wall coverings. Just a thought.
Good thought!
Can’t wait till the house is completely done. It’s going to be so nice.
love the tan with the green door! looks awesome!
Everything looks great! Wishing we had the energy that we did at your age to get all of our projects caught up. Home ownership is a lot of maintenance and keeping on top of things. LOL Don't we all know it. Never a dull moment. So happy to see all the progress on both homes........I so enjoy your channel. Awesome and so happy you are progressively thinking always. Blessings
So thrilled with the siding! I love that door and the color. It's gonna be so darned good!!! HI Mav! Hello to Belle :) Can't wait guys. God Bless. Love, Granny
The siding looks really nice! Can't wait to see what color you paint it. But even if you leave the siding its natural color it would look good. It goes well with the white trim and green door. If I were Eevee, or if Eevee was me, she would have screamed and ran the moment she saw that roach! Roaches and flies are two insects I don't hesitate to kill. The fly might be allowed to remain a little longer depending on whether or not I'm too busy to get rid of it, but roaches, I don't care how busy I am. That's with the exception of the Madagascann hissing cockroach. I wouldn't like it, but I'd allow it to be removed while still alive. You guys have a great day! Bye Maverick 👋 Bye Bell/ Belle?
get a 1000 spool of each
Are you going to do a walk through when your house is completed?
2:30 I know you said you did but, did you wire for smoke alarms? I mean, if you didn't wire for smoke alarms you will have to start all over from scratch. Just tear it all down now because it's not like anyone makes a smoke detector that runs on a 9 volt battery. You gotta run the wires darn it! I'm just kidding since sarcasm is difficult for some to catch when in written form.
I love the work you do, don’t apologize for it. Anyone who doesn’t like it can move on and start their own channel.
Yes agree! Move on if you don't like it.
nice cockroach there
You're the only person I've ever seen who makes sure the siding is a half inch up off the floor to prevent water from wicking into it❤❤❤😮
Same for bead board also.
You have so many skills. Amazing!
Lots of work for Doug today...you would.make a good teacher...the siding on the house looks so nice...it's to bad you don't have a twin brother...you'd be done in twice the time 😂😁 ❤❤❤❤ 🍦🍦🍦🍦 👋👱 🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜
Great job
That is one huge reason why we don’t live in the south. Cock roaches the size of my foot!!! YIKES! Can’t imagine opening the cupboard for cereal and one of those hands me the box! Don’t know how ya’ll do it. Another day of good work.
I live in coastal Georgia...lots of Palmetto bugs here also. But, we have essential oil bug sprayed by professionals. Don't see any anymore and safe !
We live in Alabama and they can be bad but a professional company sprays for us . Keeps them away😊
I like the door color
I already love the colour of the siding and the door together.
I already love the colour of the siding and the door together.
Love. Your green. Door. Primer. Perfect match. Doffing. Looks. Good. Like the. Moister. Barrier. Under. Siding. ❤❤❤❤❤
Lookin good y’all! Love y’all!
Love the siding! Looks great!❤ then the disappearing act at the end Doug you never disappoint me 😊
Do a crown molding above the door to close that gap!! That'd be beautiful! ❤
Siding looks very nice!!!
Both houses are looking great. I cant wait to see what color you paint your stick built house!
Maybe, at some point, you could build a home office gazebo right off your Juliette balcony 😮😅 lol.. I'm just bucking for another gazebo build 😂
Just a thought - how much load will a really good suction vacuum cleaner use? Mine at home uses 12.0 amps. So, if you only have a 15amp circuit - that is really close to the max.
Cool pre cut mouse hole lol
i thought that was a cockroach, so i looked up Palmetto bugs, which i saw in the comment. turns out its the same thing.
The siding is a massive improvement! 😎
Yay…siding
The rain screen is a cool product, I have never seen that before.
from what i have learned over the years , you are partly right on the cut edge of wood..... heres why i think that. yes you want to protect a cut edge from getting wet , but "primer" only helps if your going to paint it. sealant is what i would use to seal the wood from getting wet. its just what works for me here in deep south texas near the gulf of mexico. NOT triyng to be a smart a$$ just thought i offer a differant type of view. dont stop your work i love that your family all pitch in to help. God speed!!
Your porch is looking beautiful, love the green door! Doug, you should be a teacher!!!!!🥰🇨🇦
